Objectives

At the end of the course delegates will:

  • Understand the main health and safety legislation requirements relating to the use of service avoidance tools
     
  • Understand the hazards associated with underground services
     
  • Be familiar with the various principals of operation of cable avoidance tools and also their limitations
     
  • Understand the necessity for planning underground service surveys
     
  • Know the correct survey methods and the appropriate marking methods
     
  • Know what the safe digging practices are and how to implement them
     
  • Understand the need for the appropriate emergency procedures
