Introduction

This PASMA course  is intended to teach delegates the necessary skills and knowledge required to enable them to demonstrate competency when erecting, using, moving and dismantling mobile and static aluminium access towers, in addition to the skills and knowledge required when inspecting aluminium access towers.

Course Aims

To give delegates the necessary demonstrable skills and knowledge to ensure their own safety when erecting, using, moving and dismantling mobile and static aluminium access towers, in addition to the skills and knowledge required when inspecting aluminium access towers. To ensure delegates understand the need for safe systems of work and the importance of following approved procedures when carrying our erection, use and dismantling operations.

For whom the course is intended

All company personnel who are required to erect, use, move and dismantle mobile and static aluminium access towers.

Objectives

At the end of the course delegates will:-

  • Understand the main aims of Health and Safety legislation – H.A.S.W.A., Working at Height Regulations and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
  • Understand and identify typical components
  • Understand the importance of stability
  • Understand the hazards associated with erecting and dismantling access towers and the consequences of misuse; and how to correctly apply the ‘3 T’ (through the trap) method of tower erection and dismantle.
  • Erection and dismantling of towers using advanced guardrail systems.
  • Carry out a risk assessment on erecting, using, moving and dismantling mobile and static aluminium access towers.
  • Understand the need to inspect prior to use, and the safe use of aluminium scaffold access equipment.
  • Carry out an inspection and complete an appropriate report.
