INTRODUCTION

This course of training will enable Managers and Supervisors to perform their duties relating to the inspection of scaffolds to comply with the Work at Height Regulations and TG20

COURSE AIMS

To emphasise to delegates the employer’s statutory obligation to have competent persons to inspect and then complete reports on Scaffolds in the workplace. To give delegate practice at inspecting different types of scaffolds, fault finding and completing inspection report.

OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course delegates will: -

  • Understand the requirements of the legislation and standards applicable to scaffolding and the employer’s duties and responsibilities.
  • Understand the basic scaffold components and the principal of erection and configuration.
  • Traditional Tube & Fitting TG20 Compliant Scaffolds
  • Be able to manage the selection and use of scaffolds.
  • Complete a scaffold inspection to identify faults
  • Complete an inspection report.

Delegates must be able to work at Height and must be physically fit to climb ladders and access a scaffold.

ACHIEVEMENT MEASUREMENT

Delegates will be expected to identify at least 100% of the “built-in” faults on the main scaffolding at the final inspection on the pre-erected scaffold; and achieve at least 80% in the written knowledge retention test papers.

DELIVERY METHOD

This course will be delivered using a mixture of presentation methods, sample components, use of videos, and practical exercises on pre-erected scaffolds.
